You may recognize the lovely Walsh from her roles on Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, and she’s made a name for herself in the beauty world with her bestselling fragrances. We caught up with the designer to hear more about her venture into the world of perfume.
Q: What attracted you to creating your own perfume?
A:It was the idea of a men’s scent lingering on a woman’s skin, the story of the Boyfriend, his shirt, his watch on the nightstand, the memory of him and all of the romance and sexiness that goes along with that. Also, I couldn’t find what I was looking for in the marketplace, the straight up men’s scents were too masculine. So I created my own Boyfriend.
Q: What does scent mean to you?
A:Boyfriend is cozy and sexy, like wearing your boyfriend’s sweater. It’s the combination of masculine and feminine, of woods and florals and it’s intoxicating. I think a good fragrance triggers memories, and Boyfriend makes u feel happy, sexy and warm, whether ‘he’ is in the picture or not.
Q: What notes and blends best define your Boyfriend fragrances?
A:Boyfriend’s got a juicy plum note which makes it totally succulent and delicious. And then it goes into the night blooming jasmine, which is an aphrodisiac, and is literally magnetic, a sophisticated, warm vanilla note, and then the ‘dude’ comes into play with a little sandalwood, and amber to warm on the skin. The result is yummy and it’s Boyfriend. Billionaire Boyfriend is more opulent and floral with bergamont wrapped in lush green leaf then blooms into a provocative blend of black jasmine, velvet orchid and gardenia, then the ‘dude’ comes into play with sensual warm notes of amber and sandalwood.
